Who is responsible for your information?
MapRail is the controller responsible for personal information processed through this website. MapRail is a live railway information and historical timetable service.
Privacy enquiries can be sent to shaung75@gmail.com.
Information we process
MapRail does not currently offer user accounts, accept payments or ask visitors to create profiles. When you use the website, our hosting and security systems may process:
- IP address and approximate network location;
- browser, device and operating-system information;
- requested pages, request times and referring page;
- security events, application errors and diagnostic information; and
- information you voluntarily include if you contact the site operator.
Why we process it
Technical information is processed where necessary to deliver pages, protect MapRail against misuse, diagnose faults and maintain a reliable service. Our lawful basis is normally our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website. Where the law requires consent for an optional technology, that technology will remain disabled until consent is provided.
Cookies and browser storage
MapRail currently uses essential session storage and requested display preferences only. It does not use advertising or behavioural tracking. Full details are in our cookie policy.
Who receives information?
Technical information may be processed by service providers that host, secure or deliver MapRail. Browser requests for fonts, interface libraries and map tiles may also disclose your IP address and basic request information to the relevant content-delivery provider. We do not sell personal information.
Links to external websites are governed by those websites’ own privacy notices.
Retention and security
Operational logs are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for security, fault investigation and service administration, and are then deleted or overwritten. Information may be kept for longer where it is required to investigate abuse, establish legal claims or comply with law.
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to processing, and complain about its use. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
This notice may change when MapRail introduces new features or its legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
